Royal Welsh Show 2026

The judging of the North Country Cheviot Park classes took place at the Royal Welsh Show on Tuesday 21st July, with the honours carried out by Miss Ruth Allen, Humbleheugh, who travelled from Northumberland to judge this year's impressive entry.

A tremendous show of quality sheep culminated in a superb shearling gimmer from Ben & Brydon Baker's BB flock taking the Overall & Female Champion title. Sired by Allanshaws Alabama and out of a Philiphaugh ewe purchased at the Lockerbie Sale, she caught the judge's eye from the moment she entered the ring.

The success marks a remarkable third consecutive Royal Welsh Show Overall Championship for the BB flock – a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to Ben & Brydon on this outstanding accomplishment.

The Reserve Overall & Male Champion rosette was awarded to Coquet Fancy Pants, a powerful two-shear tup exhibited by Katy Davies & Dafydd Owen of the Pen-Y-Bont flock. Sired by Knockcocher Commander, he was purchased at the 2025 Lockerbie Sale for £1,000.

The Reserve Female Champion was the second-placed shearling gimmer from Ffloyd Lewis, Brynowen. Bred entirely from homebred genetics, she was sired by Brynowen Governor and out of a Brynowen Brutus daughter.

The Reserve Male Champion was a shearling tup from Gareth Hughes, Glan-Ithon, bred from a homebred ewe and sired by Allanshaws Dakota.

Congratulations to all exhibitors on presenting such an outstanding display of North Country Cheviots and helping make the Royal Welsh Show another memorable occasion for the breed.
