The Annual In-lamb Show & Sale at Lockerbie met a tremendous trade, with an excellent show of sheep forward. Demand was strong from start to finish, with buyers keen to secure the very best quality—and they were not to be disappointed.

The Park Show was ably judged by William Heads, Greendale. He selected his Champion from a single entry by W & J Thomson, Hownam Grange: a ewe hogg named Ophelia. She had previously enjoyed a successful show season as a lamb in 2025, claiming first place at the Border Union Show, Peebles Show and Pennymuir Show. Sired by Humbleheugh Cantankerous, she went on to sell for £4,500 to Messrs Millar, Lockerbie, equalling the centre record set in 2019—also for a ewe hogg from the same admired home.

Reserve Champion in the Park Section went to a two-crop ewe from regular consignors K O Stones, Nun Cote Nook. Sired by Kinaldy Vangelis and scanned in lamb with twins to Synton Danny, she realised £1,500. The same home achieved the second top price of the day, £3,600, for their first-placed gimmer. Backed by strong homebred genetics, she was sired by Nun Cote Nook Charmander and scanned with twins to Nun Cote Nook Franco. Both sheep were purchased by the judge, William Heads, to join his Greendale flock.

A further ewe from George Milne’s Kinaldy flock sold for £2,000, travelling north to Aberdeen with Messrs Johnstone, Ballindalloch.

In the Hill Section, judge Gareth Price—who travelled from South Wales—selected his Champion from a gimmer exhibited by local breeders C G Graham, Carruthers. Scanned in lamb to Sorbietrees Elvis, she heads south to Wales with T & L Hughes, Cefn Uchaf flock, Conwy.

Reserve Champion in the Hill Section was another gimmer, this time from Bob & Becca Rennie’s Attonburn flock. Sired by Badanloch Wildfire and in lamb to the 20,000gns Dorrery Dynamite, she travels north to join Michael Kirk’s Hollandmake flock. From the same home, the third-placed gimmer—sired by Attonburn Drop Out and again in lamb to Dorrery Dynamite—realised £1,900, selling to A Robertson, Tournaig and L Matheson, Rhinamain.

Overall, a tremendous selection of sheep was presented, giving a packed ringside plenty of quality stock to choose from.
