North Country Cheviot Sheep Society
The damp weather certainly didn't dampen trade at the Annual two day North Country Cheviot tup and ewe sales at Lairg, a busty ring side on both days lead to some real highs inlcuding two tups over £20000.
Martyn Cook's Dorrery flock set the trade on fire with his consignment of 10 Two Shear tups selling to the days top trade of £22000, Dorrery Dizzee Rascal, a son of the privately purchased Attonburn Antidote (£10000), joins the Auldallan flock of R Adam and Son, Newhouse of Glemis. Closely following this at £20000 was Martyns first in the ring, Dorrery Dynamite same way bred as his top price, he heads south to Attonburn with Bob and Becca Rennie. With his second in, Dorrery Dazzler selling for £8000 to Paul Spencer, Rhifail and another at £7000, Dorrery D 06142 joining the Brachmont flock of John Blackhall, both sons of Attonburn Antidote also. Martyn's full consignment of 10 tups sold to average £7750.
Next in the money was Wilma Robertson's Borgie flock, Borgie D 02200 sired by Inverbroom Thor realised £18000 to Andrew Elliot, Balnakeil.
Two tups made £11000, first of these came from DI Rock Farming, Hethpool Danger Mouse, a Hartside Hill Baxter son, heads to Hawick with the Dunlop's, Commonside. The same home had a second bred the same way at £6000, Hethpool Double Trouble travels to Cumbria with Oliver Harrison, Aimshaugh.
The next at £11000 was second in the ring for Hugh Mackenzie, Badanloch Destroyer, a Stouphill B 22568 son also heads to the borders with George Irving, Benger, Selkirk. At £10000 Badanloch Champion, a three Shear sired by the homebred Badanloch Xtra Special was purchased by WN Douglas, Whitehope who also bought another from this home bred the same way for £5000.
Badanloch received £7500 and £6500 for another two three shears sold going to A Beaton, Gesto and in a three way split to DN Campbell, Bardnaclavan, W Sutherland, Brackside and Welbeck Scottish Farms, Ousdale respectively. In total, 10 tups averaged £5740.
A further two tups realised £10000, firstly a two shear from Inkstack, sired by St Johns Kirk Awesome, he travels to a new home at Moffat with Hugh & Sandy Wilson, Newbank. Bob and Becca Rennies Attonburn pen took £10000 for their first in, Attonburn Drop Out, another son of Badanloch Xtra Special who was purchased for £16000 in 2021, he stays in the North with Hugh Mackenzie, Badanloch Estates.
Two tups made £9000, firstly for the Adam's of Auldallan who sold one to Jan Mackenzie, Langdale who went on to sell Langdale Cavelier for the same money to David Baillie, Calla, Carnwath.
Red Robertson sold his first in the ring, another two shear from Inkstack for £8500 to JM Elliot, Woodside, with a shearling from this home also travelling to the Borders in a two way split with WW dunlop, Commonside & Sorbietrees Farms Ltd for £4500.
