Lairg Sale Report

United Auctions, Lairg held their annual sale of rams & females on Tuesday 2nd October 2018, a 90% sale clearance was acheived on the rams with the ringside busy throughout the sale. Top price of the day came from the Suisgill consignment, Lot 318 a two shear ram by Borgie Tank was purchased by WN Douglas, Whitehope for £14,000.

Following this were two rams at £11,000 – Lot 112 from Torrish, a three shear by a Clebrig sire sold to the Suisgill Estate & Lot 181 from Badanloch, again a three shear by North Loch Naver Nomad was purchased by WD Allen, Stouphill. Lot 268 a two shear from Whitehope by Attonburn Rebus sold for £9500 to Badanloch Estate & at £7200 Lot 182 a three shear ram from Badanloch again by North Loch Naver Nomad sold to J Campbell, Armadale. Lot 255 a two shear from Sorbietrees by Whitchesters Ranger sold for £6000 to H Wilson, Newbank & the Philiphaugh Estates Lot 224 Philiphaugh Top Shot, a three shear by Philiphaugh Robert The Bruce joins the Hartside Hill flock of Linhope Farming Partnership for £5200.

Females –

With a large entry of both draft ewes & gimmers, a steady trade was seen with buyers being more selective.

1733 Gimmers averaged £81.12 (-23.16 on the year) with a top price of £178 – K MacLennan, Heathmount
6135 Ewes averaged £64.63 (-£4.33 on the year) with a top price of £142 – Achentoul Farms, Achentoul.
