Generous support for Charities

The North Country Cheviot Sheep Society hosts a drinks reception for members each year on the Thursday evening following the judging, this is now a well looked forward to opportunity for members & supporters of the society to gather together & enjoy a catch over a celebratory drink. At this year’s gathering it was suggested we could have a bucket for donations in support of Joe Williams (Pengroes & Mon flocks) as he had recently shaved all his hair off in aid of Cancer Research UK – Joe himself was at the party proudly displaying his new ‘look’ & was overwhelmed by the kindest & generosity of the members, the evening finished with Joe receiving over £1000, so including monies he had already received he is expecting to make a donation of nearly £2000 – well done Joe.
Thanks must also go to Christine Campbell who suggested having a bucket for donation.

Alongside this, the drinks party was also an opportunity to add to the total which had previously been raised at the Badanloch stock judging & dog trail held in early June, the money there was being raised for Macmillan Cancer Support & to add to this a limited edition print of a Hill North Country Cheviot Ewe by Claire Wilson was auctioned by Stuart Slesser (Aberdeen & Northern Marts) & after some frenzied bidding sold for £415. A grand total has yet to be announced but its likely to be near £3000 – well done to those who helped to organise this event in particular Jan Mackenzie. A full report & pictures from the day are to follow.
